Hair Replacement Treatments at Pink Ivy MedSpa in Southlake

Prevent and reverse hair loss and thinning hair.

Non-surgical hair replacement has come a long way over the years!  In the past, non-surgical hair replacement options were limited. The options available worked BUT weren’t always ideal requiring clients to either use products daily or go to a salon for regular maintenance.  If you wanted to use something more natural, your only option was surgical. Hair transplants are painful, expensive and if your hair loss continues, you would need to have follow up procedures.

If you or someone you love is suffering with hair loss or thinning hair, there’s new non-surgical hair replacement option available at Pink Ivy that you need to know about.

Hair Replacement with PRFM at Pink Ivy

We’re now treating hair loss with PRFM treatments!  PRFM, or Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix, refers to the process of drawing a sample of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from PRF.  The PRF is injected into your scalp and starts working to wake up your follicles!

The results of this treatment will vary from client to client.  Success will largely be dependent on how long and severe your current hair loss is.  In general, PRFM scalp injections can improve hair thinning and shedding.  The treatment takes just 30 minutes without surgery and downtime, Then, within 2 to 3 months post treatment, if the follicle responds to the injections, you may see new hair growth.

The Benefits to Treating Hair Loss with PRFM vs. Other Non-Surgical Solutions

The greatest benefit to this treatment as opposed to traditional non-surgical hair loss options is maintenance.  Other non-surgical options require regular, ongoing maintenance as long as you want to have hair. If you are using a topical product, like Minoxidil, you basically need to use it for the rest of your life if you want to continue seeing results. Synthetic or human hair wigs or hair systems require regular maintenance and need to be replaced several times per year.

With PRFM, we’re using your body’s own natural products and abilities to help reverse hair loss.

FAQs

Who is a good candidate for this procedure?

In general, anyone can try PRFM treatments.  Research shows this treatment to be most effective on individuals in the early stages (5 years or less) of hair loss.  We can treat clients at all stages of loss, but results will vary.  If you have questions about your specific circumstances, please schedule a consultation.

Is this for men and women?

Yes, both men and women experience hair loss and both are candidates for this treatment.

Will I have a full head of hair again?

You could!  Unfortunately, we can’t predict how the body will react to this treatment.  Our goal is to stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the follicles.  Many times, leads to a fuller, thicker head of hair, but not always.  We cannot offer a guarantee to hair growth, but we have seen many successful cases and are very optimistic.

Could I have side effects from this treatment?

Because we’re using your own cells to treat hair loss, the risk of negative side effects is minimal.  The most common side effects are pain and discomfort at the injection site for a few days post treatment. And like any treatment that includes a break to the skin can pose some risk for infection. You can be confident that we use aseptic technique with our procedures and are extremely mindful of keeping all areas clean and sterile as much as possible.

How many treatments will I need?

Clients generally need series of treatments to achieve optimal results.  Typically, between 3 and 6.  We can discuss specifics at your consultation.

Can PRFM treat alopecia?

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that affects about 2 % of the world. In this condition, inflammation at the base of the hair follicle causes the hair to fall out. Patients typically have circular patches of hair loss, but total hair loss is also possible. Typical treatment for alopecia areata includes steroid injections to suppress the inflammation at the base of the hair follicle and this helps a large proportion of patients to regrow hair. PRP not only contains growth factors but contains anti-inflammatory properties as well. Studies have shown that indeed, these anti-inflammatory properties make it a potentially useful treatment for alopecia areata. (Khatu et al., 2014).
